With Covid restrictions lifting and social gathering slowly picking up again, we are ready to embrace some new beauty trends as we emerge back into the world.
2021 may not have been the best year for everyone, but you have to admit that it had some great beauty trends. Seriously, remember the freckle treatments and claw clips? Now, a few months into the new year, here are the 5 cutest beauty trends of 2021/2022:
1. Graphic Eyeliner
No-makeup makeup will always be in style, but 2021 really had a bold makeup moment. Bright colors lined the eyes in bold styles. We love how models and actresses channeled Princess Diana with their bright blue eyeliner and bright blush.
We look forward to seeing this more in 2022! Graphic eyeliner will still be key, but other bold beauty trends will include bright eyeshadow and bright lipstick.
2. Curtain Bangs
Bangs were out for a while, but they came back in when celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, and Gigi Hadid reached for the scissors and cut some curtain bangs. Curtain bangs are very flattering on pretty much every face shape, and they’re easy to style.
You need a blow dryer and a round brush to style curtain bangs. Pull the bangs forward while you blow dry to get them to curve back toward your face. For extra volume, pin them in a large curler while they cool.
3. Textured Mullets
With lots of other 80’s fashion coming back, it’s no surprise that mullets made their way into mainstream fashion in 2021. But these weren’t just your average mullets: trendsetters like Miley Cyrus and Zendaya showed us how to make the perfect textured mullet look chic. Even actresses with long hair, like Debby Ryan, pulled off the “shag” with grace.
4. Claw Clips
If you watched all the Friends episodes on Netflix, raise your hand. If you raised your hand, I’m talking to you. Do you remember all the claw clips that Rachel and Monica wore? They were an iconic 90’s beauty trend that kept the hair off the neck without damage from an elastic.
Luckily for us, claw clips were hugely updated. Now they come in different shapes, sizes, and patterns. If you desperately need to hide your split ends or need an elegant statement hairpiece, the claw clip is definitely a trend you should jump on.
5. Faux Freckles
Why faux freckles, you ask? Freckles perfectly capture the essence of the no-makeup look. Freckles make you look ethereal, soft, and radiant. It helps to add a little bronzer for a sun-kissed glow to make them look more natural.
If you weren’t blessed with freckles, you can get a faux freckle treatment to make it look like you have real freckles. They start out quite bold, but then they gradually fade over two years. Luckily for us, faux freckles are going to be trending for years to come.
